SUITS, CHECKS & TURTLE NECKS

As the weather get cooler so do the trends. Autumn/winter is my favourite for fashion because tones get darker and prints get grungier. Everyone, especially myself, seems to become more themselves with the way they express themselves through clothing... if they're not bundled up in a parka hiding from the British rain. My go to look during the colder months tends to revolve around 3 things; suits, checks and turtle necks. Which coincidentally I didn't mean to make rhyme.

SUITS

Suits are such a versatile piece to own as they can be dressed up, down or worn separately. I think as long as you have one good suit in a neutral tone in your life then you are set for an array of occasions. Not only do they make you look like you have yourself together, they make you feel like you're put together... even if your life is falling apart and you've just spent your last wage on a handbag you absolutely did not need to have. But either way at least you look like a boss bitch.

When I saw this suit from Pretty Little Thing I fell in love immediately! Not only are the vertical stripes elongating but they give it such a pin up business vibe. My personal favourite way to wear it is as the two piece with a white graphic t-shirt and fanny pack across the chest and a crisp white pair of trainers, however mine are no longer leaning on the crisp side.

If you're not into such a casual way of styling and need to dress yourself up for a night out any blazer that is long enough to cover the booty can be modified into a blazer dress, just slap on a belt to keep your figure and a pair of strappy heels and you're good to go. Or if you're feeling a bit more risque then go for the full suit but minus the tshirt underneath for a bit of cleavage, just make sure you've got some double sided tape to keep the girls covered.

Another favourite of mine to dress up is this Em Rata X Nasty Gal white leather blazer, the texture of this jacket/dress really spices up the look to give you sexy lab assistant on the town vibes.

Now this next one mixes this category and my next one perfectly. I love suits, and I love checks, so what more could I need in life than this checked suit? This gives me all the Cher from Clueless 90's feels I've ever needed and it also doubles up for a costume if you're ever in a pinch for movie character to dress up as.

CHECKS & TURTLE NECKS

During the winter months you want to look a bit edgier and nothing looks more rock and roll than a good checked print. Whether it be in a big over sized coat or on the more subtle side like a scrunchie or headband, check will always be a look.

I tend to lean on the darker colours when it comes to this trend to give myself that 2000s London rock style so these green and blue plaid trousers from Brandy Melville do the job perfectly. I love the huge silver chain on this shoulder bag as it brings a bit of eye catching light to the outfit and paired with the worn in leather jacket and Dr Martins just bumps up the edge of the whole fit

My favourite way to style this print is in dresses, and of course you cant forget to layer a black turtle neck underneath to add a whole new dimension to the look.

This wrapped tartan dress with the pleated skirt from Topshop makes me feel like I should be living my best life at a rich boarding school. It can also be worn with some sheer tights if your legs aren't ready to brave the cold yet but I will be clinging onto the warmer months until my body turns blue. As always throw a leather jacket on top and a pair of Docs to complete the outfit.

Another alternative to the plaid dress is this number from Primark which Ive styled the same as the previous dress however this has a different silhouette keeping it tight to the body. You could also style this one up without the turtle neck and throw on a pair of heels for a night out.
